INTRODUCTION TO AIRBRUSHING:
With the technology of high definition television (HDTV), make- up artists have evolved their skills with the
addition of airbrushing to their repertoires. With the high pixel count in both HDTV and digital photography, every
detail is shown to the extreme. The standard makeup of the 90’s now looks far too heavy and false in these
mediums.
By using a compressor and airbrush gun, micronized make-up is dispersed so finely that, if applied correctly, it
cannot be seen. It gives invisible coverage.
There are several different formulas of foundation that can be used. Hydro (water base) gives a natural, dewy
look and is most often used on the face. Silicone and alcohol base foundations are non-transferrable so they are
good choices to cover tattoos, birthmarks and for use on areas where clothing may rub against the body.
In addition to the skills and techniques that you will learn about airbrush makeup application, this course
emphasizes hands-on practical care and maintenance of your airbrush equipment, dexterity exercises (using both
hands) and practice.
Beginning with a comprehensive overview of safety and mechanical considerations, students progress to
efficiently cleaning, assembling and loading the airbrush unit. Working on paper as a primary canvas, you will
move to face and body as you experiment with patterns and textures. The creation and application of airbrush
tattoos and patterns is another addition to your professional menu.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
A comprehensive introduction to learning:
a) The correct breakdown, cleaning and reassembling of the airbrush.
b) The mechanics of airbrushing.
c) To apply beauty, glamour and fashion makeup with an airbrush.
d) To compare products available for beauty makeup and body makeup.
PRODUCT INFORMATION: Level 1: Introduction To Airbrush Makeup Application will demonstrate the
use of MAC silicone base foundation and the Kandesen Protective Foundation SPF15 base foundations.
Students will also learn to mix colors of blush and eye shadow and much more. These new skills are essential for
every media makeup artist!
Course fee includes the use of materials, equipment, products and supplies. Fee: $300 /person
Duration: 3 hours
* The air-compressor, airbrush gun and all the makeup required for the course will be provided for the student.
* For private instruction sessions, students who wish to practice on a live model will be required to bring a model
for the last two hours of the course.
